【19 September 2025｜Hong Kong．Foshan】Asia’s premier automotive modification exhibition, Tokyo Auto Salon Hong Kong (TAS · HK), made its inaugural appearance in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) by participating as a strategic partner at APAxpo, held from 19 to 21 September at the Foshan Tanzhou International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Marking its debut on the Mainland, TAS · HK not only brought the essence of Japanese and Hong Kong car modification culture to the Area, but also showcased its commitment to professionalism, innovation, and diversification. Through this participation, TAS · HK seeks to promote sustainable modification practices, infuse fresh impetus into the regional automotive culture, and accelerate cross-border cultural and industry integration.
Dual Expo Synergy: Shaping a New Landscape for Modification Culture
As one of the largest and most influential automotive modification exhibitions of Mainland China, APAxpo has long been recognised as a trendsetter in modification culture and technological advancement, which brings together leading domestic and international modification brands, in addition to the showcase of innovative industry achievements and design inspirations.
The participation of TAS · HK further internationalises the Expo, serving as a bridge for cross-regional cultural exchange. Through the engagement of Mainland industry stakeholders, TAS · HK aims to deepen collaboration in design, research, and industry development across the GBA, to enable diverse modification communities and inspire one another and collectively elevate the region’s automotive culture, thereby accelerate its alignment with global standards.
Foshan Smackdown Ride: A Cross-Border Showcase of Modification Excellence
Beyond the exhibition itself, TAS · HK also features the “HK JDMs: Foshan Smackdown Ride”. On 20 and 21 September, some 30 Hong Kong car owners will bring their modified vehicles to Foshan to engage with renowned Mainland modification experts and enthusiasts, exchanging ideas, techniques, and experiences. This smackdown ride will not only offer Hong Kong car owners first-hand exposure to the creativity and dynamism of Mainland modification culture, but also establish a platform for in-depth interaction, fostering technical exchange, cultural inspiration, and community building, and highlighting the diversity and potential of automotive culture within the GBA.
Strategic Partnership Signed: Building a New Automotive Culture Ecosystem in the Bay Area
In accordance with the strategic cooperation agreement between TAS．HK and APAxpo, the partnership aims to establish a premier platform for automotive culture and innovation, for high-quality development of the Bay Area’s automotive industry, as well as “international resource integration and regional industrial collaboration”.
Hong Kong, as an international metropolis, possesses rich modification culture, global expertise, and creative talent, while Mainland China offers a complete industrial ecosystem and a large market. The collaboration combines these strengths, injecting sustained energy into regional modification culture, advancing the professionalisation, value creation, and sustainability of the regional modification industry, and positioning Chinese automotive culture and the modification sector on the global stage.
Exciting Activities Line-Up: Creating the Ultimate Car Enthusiast Experience
Participation in APAxpo is only the beginning for TAS · HK. Following this, “The Soul of Car Customisation” will present the finest local modified cars, evaluated by a professional Japanese judging panel on “design & aesthetics”, “engineering & technical innovation”, and “car allusions & design concepts”, recognising exemplary works across all dimensions. To further invigorate the community, a series of pre-show events in Hong Kong ahead of the year-end exhibition, including car meets and street parades, is in the pipeline, enabling enthusiasts to engage with the modification culture in advance.
Looking ahead, TAS · HK will take place as a year-end must-see, where leading modification brands, renowned tuners, and automotive culture enthusiasts will gather under one roof to create an international-standard platform for exchange and showcase.
Through this series of events, TAS · HK will not only highlight the pinnacle of Asian modification culture, but also promote deeper integration with international markets, steering the car modification culture towards a more professional, influential, and vibrant era.
